You need to edit the registry. Back it up first!
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Quizo\QTTabBar]
Buttons_ImagePath is the key to edit. It is a string value. Place the full path to the button image in the key's value.
While editing the registry will work, I have just found the way it is supposed to be done! This is a safer option as well…
Simply right-click on any one of the toolbar icons, and from the resulting pop-up menu, choose 'customize…'.
Then, use the 'Browse Image' button to select an image. Or, use the 'Reset Image' button to set the image back to the internal, native toolbar image.
I bet a lot of people have trouble finding this, I know I did! I would have expected this setting to be in the main options dialog under the 'appearance' tab.

I needed almost 30 minutes to create this comment. Reason: it´s not easy to insert a image and one wrong klick on comment preview and you can write a new comment.

But I don't know why it's disabled and I can not choose my favorite image. I am running WinXP Pro, anybody knows what the problem is?
make sure that you did check off the "Toolbar Background Image" or it will be greyed out- then click on the "…" button to navigate to your "favorite image" after you select the image, choose from the drop-down menu whether you want it to be tiled, stretched, etc. After you have done all of that then click the "Apply" button at the bottom so you can be sure you like the way it looks without closing out the "Options" dialog just yet (in case you want to change settings or switch to a different image all together)- when it looks the way you want, then click "OK". If you do, however, have the check-box next to "Toolbar Background Image" selected/checked & it is still giving you an issue then I'm not sure what the problem is(?). Maybe you need to have an administrator account for this setting(?) Hope you get it worked out!
I just noticed a small artifact next to the "Up" button. Fixed.

You don't need to edit the registry- maybe you used to- i've only recently begun using QTTabBar so i'm not fully aware of what features were available when this question was originally asked- but i know now you can do it in the "OPTIONS" dialog…

Hello. Did you activate the toolbar? in vista i cant´t say it (i have xp). But in xp click "VIEW" and there "Symbolleiste". Make sure there is a hook for QT Tabbar.

I'm not sure how this would be possible mate. I mean you can have transparent tabs, that's not a problem, but this would need a transparent background, which doesn't work (appears solid black).

Awesome style! I am wondering something though. How did you get the drop down (menus like File, Edit, Tools, etc) next to the address bar? In my Vista, I am unable to relocate the address bar at all, so maybe you are using XP, but you skinned it to look like Vista?

for that you make a right clic on the QT Tab standart button (not on a button)
you go to "Appearance"
Go down and you can see "Toolbar background image" -> check it and put your image on the area right.

The fact was that I had Windowblinds UNLOADED (as I said that I didn't have it…a fault confessed is half redressed). I'm now hapy to conclude that all that mess happens only when you have windowblinds, BUT NOT SKINSTUDIO installed.
Since I installed Skinstudio, the QT Tabbar program behave the normaliest of the world. So I'm happy. Plus I discovered with restarting my computer that the buttons text of the QT Standard Buttons toolbar is customizable via the detail view alternate text color. This stuff is really the bomb ! Thank you Quizzo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, I don't have windowsblind installed on my XP Pro Version 2002 Service Pack 3 pc. I don't know if there is any issue for this application with my pc config.

ooh- so how did you get the different View options to be separate buttons (ie Icon, Thumbnail, List…etc)- I downloaded the View Button Plugin- but they are all on one button- in a drop-down list- as opposed to each View style being its own button.

I had a really random error message pop up after attempting to open a folder on my desktop- it appears to be related to fonts- specifically, in my case, 'Calibri Bold Caps'- that are applied w/ Visual Styles (Windows XP SP3).
When I initially installed QTTB I had a different Visual Style installed than the one currently causing the error & it was working perfectly fine with no issues. But after I switched to my current V.S- which uses the font Calibri Bold Caps- every time I tried to open a folder, I received an error message that read:
**Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click CONTINUE, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.
Font 'Calibri Bold Caps' does not support style 'Regular'**
At the bottom of this error dialog are 2 buttons- 'v DETAILS' & 'CONTINUE'- if I press 'CONTINUE' it works fine- that is until I need to open another folder, upon which another error message is prompted, forcing me to, again, click "CONTINUE' in order to proceed with the opening of the folder- so while it functions properly (for the most part), the constant error messages began to drive me nuts.
The 'DETAILS' button has a drop-arrow- when pressed it opens a lengthy log describing the error in, well, more detail. I'll copy/paste some of the log at the end of this post, in case anyone wants to look at it & tell me what's going on- i mean, although I was able to fix the issue- well, i guess it would more accurately be considered a work around than a fix- i would still like to know why it happened in the first place or if other fonts will be a problem…etc.
So I mentioned a workaround to the problem- all i had to do to stop receiving error messages was change the ICON font to something other than Calibri Bold Caps- I even changed it to just regular Calibri & had no more errors. Although other items also used Calibri Bold Caps (MENU. MESSAGE BOX, ACTIVE/INACTIVE TITLE, PALETTE TITLE, TOOLTIP, SELECTED ITEM…etc), I was able to keep using it with them as ICON was the only item affected (weird, right? I thought for sure it would have been either MENU or MESSAGE BOX- or both[?])
*Btw, if anyone else has somehow encountered this strange occurrence, the ITEM's i am referring to are located in Desktop Properties> under the Appearance Tab> then clicking the Advanced button.

that's it- this isn't urgent or anything- like I said, I am able to work around it, i am just curious about what's going on here(?) I think it has something to do with the fact that the Calibri Bold Caps font does not have a 'regular' version- it is only either Bold or Italic- that seems to be what the initial error dialog is referring to(?) Idk…
