New Tab by pressing a hotkey

I use to open new tabs in firefox by pressing ctrl+t. there comes a blank tab and i am used to that and i can work with it perfectly. is there a similar function for qtabbar? like you press ctrl+t and there is a new tab which starts at the desktop or some place you can choose ?

Ctrl+N will create a new tab for you. It's the shortcut for new window. And to open a new tab from a folder in the current window, middle click it with the mouse.
