I have bug at vista.
when i open folder at xp, tab appears in the same moment. And i like it.
But at vista i have bug. When i open folder, new window appears for second. Then it disappears and new tab opens.
Or may be it isn`t bug?

I’ve been looking for a way to fix it, still in vain.
Window appears after QTTabBar is attached to Explorer on XP,
but before on Vista I think…
The problem occurs when explorer window is opened by applications,
by start menu or by desktop icon. If you enable the "Desktop tool" (taskbar toolbar),
double clicking desktop icon would not cause the problem.
Another way is to check an option "Do not capture window as a new tab when opened from outside"
in Option -> Window.
In 1.2, I am having a problem that tabs are not activated when clicked the 1st time.
The tab maybe activated immediately when just created, but after a few click between tabs, some tabs may require 2 clicks to be activated
First of all thanks for the great app. I am looking something like that for years. The only tiny bug i found was that (see pic)

After installing QTTabbar, it sort of worked, but different things would cause exceptions. For example, I could not edit the options. I dug deep into it, and found that your ATLWrapper class gathers the Vista user folders (e.g. My Documents, My Pictures, etc.). If any of them are configured incorrectly (which is pretty easy to do) then the path is null, and your ToLower() call fails.
I fixed my installation by tracking down that my Downloads folder was pointed to an incorrect path. After fixing this in the registry, the QTTabs exception went away. More specifically, I fixed the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\User Shell Folders.
Web Browser History gets all confused when QT Tab bar is added. Using BACK KEY in the Web Browser leads to frames instead of web page. Real confusing. I'm not that familiar with QT TAB and looking at the options did not give me clue at what to change there to make it work right.
The reason I like to use it in Web Browser is that it lets me lock open web pages.

I found this bug:
I open 2 folders located in a dvd, In this case J:\cooler & J:\mint (could be any others, J:\ is the dvd-rom)
If I try to jump from 1 folder/tab to another I get this message and then the folders are closed.
This only happen when one or both folders are in a dvd.
No problem to manage tabs/folder located in my HD.
I'm using v1.2.1.3, I use QTTaBar since v1.0.18 and I don't remember see this bug before.

I'm using QTTabBar 1.2.2.1, and I really like a lot of the little touches it has, like the image previews and the better file rename. I have noticed with the tabs, that they seem to break Explorer's own Back button. When hitting backspace to go back, the window goes where it should. If the Back button is pressed, the Explorer window jumps back to whatever place you started when opening (like My Documents, My Computer, etc).
Would it be possible to make the Explorer back button work for each tab, so I can use the original nav buttons?
Also, for some computers, I would rather not use tabs, but I would like the other features of this program. Could you allow tabs to be disabled, but still have working image previews and file renaming, highlighting, etc?

I have the same issue on Vista 64bit. Win key + E is my typical way of opening explorer. For a second the new window is opened before it is 'sucked' into a preexisting window as a tab. The real problem is that this leaves artifacts on the screen. Basically the window that opened for a second remains an artifact on the desktop until another window is moved over it updating the draw code/regions for that section of the screen. This is almost amusing as one of the 'improvements' of Vista was that this was not supposed to be possible. i.e. if a program locks up or the system starts to hand you could 'paint' your screen with the failing app/window by dragging it around and smearing the draw code everywhere. yeh I'm getting the same, I have to say its those artifacts that are stopping me from using QTTabbar's tab features although I do like the previews of images so have kept that enabled.
I'm sure the author is working hard on it

Looks like a great app, but cannot install.
I'm running windows XP with service pack 3. Avast virus scanner. PCtools firewall. dotNet v2.0. Administrator privileges.
Execute QTTabBar.exe, a dialog box is partially drawn, and the system hangs completely. Have to hit the reset button. Tried both 1.2.2.1 and 1.2.3b2. Never had an app that needed a hard reset to get control of the system, so I'm thinking there must be some obvious problem here. Any ideas of where to even start?
Nevermind, it was PCtools v5 firewall. The exact same thing happened when I tried to run QTTabBar. Removed PCtools, and problem gone.
Oops, meant to say CDburnerXP would lock up - along with QTTabBar.
This app is absolutely awesome! It saves me a tremendous amount of time and clicks and it's fun to use. Thanks so much for your time and work that you put into developing it.
I recently installed your QTTabBar into Windows XP2 and I've come across an extremely annoying bug. Every time that I close a folder, my system makes a sound, the default ding sound. I have "Play sounds" unchecked in the QTTabBar options window and I've checked my systems sounds configuration and there is nothing set in there that would trigger a sound when closing a folder so aside from uninstalling QTTabBar, do you have any suggestions?
My home sound system is hooked up to my PC and the audio is always on and the ding is really distracting.

I use Windows XP, QTTabBar v1.2.2.1, and my problem is I can't create file shortcuts:
If I copy a file and then right click -> Paste Shortcut, then it pastes a copy of the file, and not a shortcut to the file.
If I drag and drop while pressing the ALT button, it should create a shortcut to the file, bit instead it renames the file to "Copy of <filename>".

QTTabbar v1.2.3 beta 5 on Windows Vista home basic 32bit & Windows XP pro. When using QT Tab Desktop Tool I lose Windows Explorer/Desktop When i turn that tool off, only way to fix so i can click icons on desktop and right click on desktop is to either restart explorer or reboot windows. I hope there will be a fix for this as it is not very good to have this keep happening.

With QT Tab Desktop Tool activated, double click on the system clock in the right corner isn't working anymore as supposed.
The QT Tab Menu appears instead the windows clock.
Can this be changed?

Hi, thanks for making and maintaining the address bar. Here is some error report on the QTAddressBar.
- Network shares (e.g. \\point\to\somewhere or \\192.168.1.64\whatever) show up *pretty* bad
- FTP feature is not working: original address bar allows to type ftp://point.to.somewhere/folder
this does *not* work with QTAddressBar
Another suggestion is to apply some ideas to make the address bar rock-solid and very fast.

UNC paths in Groups causing delay
I have several UNC paths defined in my Groups and when I first attempt to access the Groups list the application will hang for a period time. I assume that the list is going out and for whatever reason touching these UNC paths causing the delay. Once this initial delay has been overcome, then the Groups list works normally. Any way to not have the Groups list go out and touch the UNC paths and thereby avoid this extremely painful delay going forward?
BTW, nice app and thanks for all your work on this.
Having same problems as others described while testing both stable and beta builds of QTTabBar in Windows 7 RC build 7100. It still works perfectly for me in XP SP3 and Vista SP2, you're awesome!

middle click on a folder in tree view under vista doesn't open a new tab
under xp middle click in tree view did his job fine

I've got a bunch of bugs in windows 7 with the newest beta (version 1.2.3β5 ).
1. if the tabs are turned on and a explorer is started, it shows a blank one and the menu (even if i setted the option to hide it). changing any option in qttabbar that affects the layout fixes that.
2. dblclicking the background (set option: new tab) did not do anything.
3. opening a folder (rightclick - open in new window) in new tab with all required options set, wound catch it.
4. after booting my win7 startbar is broken and breaks the autorun process however. (explorer would open and mess around as before.)
unfortunately, i had to uninstall it.

Issues with windows 7 version - getting error for symbolic link folders
I have downloaded the windows 7 executable.

I also use symbolic links in windows using hard link extension and junction. Those folders which are created using symbolic links are accessible but if you open another tab and come back it says not able to open
i dont know if this is a bug or not but the title of the tabs used to be on the left side now is not even on the center

on 1.2Bete4 I tested center-alignment for fixed width tab.

may add a feature that user can choose alignments on requests…

i found this bug it happens when rename ambiguous tabs is enabled. i tried with auto, limited and fixed and the result is the same

Hello Quizo. I'd reported this by email a couple months ago. I reported the same thing with QT Address Bar and that got fixed. I guess you didn't get the email or just forgot about it.
As previously in QT Address Bar, QT Tab Bar doesn't show folders with the system attribute set.

Hi, I have noticed that the mouse move slower with the qttab. I explain it: If I am at firefox or gaim, my mouse move normal, but when I am at the explorer, its slower. Any fix?

some options like thumbnails, sub folder tip, alternate color might cause such a thing.
( mouse doesn't move slower on my XP and Vista, though. )
can i ask you your machine spec?
have you installed other shell extensions such as mouse gesture?

is slower in both local and network folder. I always use stroke it! as mouse gesture, but it is a program, not a shell extension, and only when I install qtbar the mouse gone slower.
My machine is an Athlon 64 X2 3800+, 1gb ddr400, gigabyte k8nfl4 (nforce4 chipset), geforce 7900GS, sata hard drivers…

I found this bug, it happens when i turn on "Capture new Explorer processes" and turn off "Do not capture window as a new tab when opened from outside".
I like a lot that option in and in ver 1.1.0.1 that bug did not hapen.

It's a great program. I found a bug in window vista, when I open a new window, and then I open another window, normally it will replace the new window by a tab in the previous window. Instead, it just add a new tab in the previous window and open a new cliche window. There is no such problem with the old version 1.1.01.
Anyway it's a nice program, I love it.

I've noticed a bug with Groups. When the menu is called from the taskbar I see the deleted link. It doesn't show when called from a window. I think it has something to do with the entry still being there, but the folder has been deleted. Deleting the entry from the options menu removes it from the Taskbar menu also.

Also, when adding something new to the group, it shows up in the window menu right away, but not on the taskbar menu. After checking the options menu and pressing 'OK', the link is visible in the taskbar menu.
