Summary:

How do I get a new explorer window to open as a new tab in the existing explorer window by default?

I just reformatted my HD and installed the latest version of QTTabBar.

In my earlier installation, if I had an explorer window open and then opened a new explorer window, it would open as a new tab in the existing window. Now what happens is that if I have an explorer window open and then open a new explorer window, it opens as a new window. I have to manually merge the open explorer windows by right clicking on the QtTabBar window and selecting "Merge tabs of other windows".

How do I get the new explorer window to open as a new tab in the existing explorer window by default?

Any help appreciated.

Right Click and check Options, there is some option which says open new window and tabs or something, sorry can't remember because Im on Windows 7 since last year and it doesn't work on windows 7

Thanks for your reply. I actually posted after having played around with all the options, so unless someone can tell me exactly which option to select or unselect, the problem remains…

In explorer folder options..there is a check box that should be unselected..something like run explorer in separate instances…it will catch all windows properly

Well i have the same problem and i do this to fix it:

Right Click> Options> Window>

The 7° Option must be uncheck to make the new windows open like tabs in only one window.

I'm sorry i use a languaje pack so i can tell you exactly who option is, but with i told you, i think you can do it.

I still cannot make it work! Any other suggestions (I couldn't actually understand the first fix). I'm running a XP Pro SP3…
