I have installed the codec (klite) as in the manual said, but still can't play it, although Windows Media Player can play it just fine.

What OS ??
I'm on win7x64 pro using "media player codec pack v4.3.8" and i can preview .mkv files just fine.
Let me know if you need a link to try it and see if it helps. I haven't had an issue..
Do you get any kind of a box showing any kind of error??
I'm using win8x64 and latest version of k-lite codec pack. When I hover to *.mkv file, it just shows the thumbnail and error code 0XC00D11B1.
I get that same error on corrupt video files or files missing and index, some players can rebuild on the fly. Vlc, Mplayer, ect…
I would suggest to try an re encode the file and see if that fixes the issue.
or try the codec pack I mentioned.
I must recommend you to remove media player codec pack. I lost all this morning to remove that hell of adware. 大変だったよよよよよおおおおお。。。。、結局何の意味もなかった。
Anyway, I suggest adding an option to show thumbnail at fixed position (at the center / corner of the screen). Thanks for making this great tool.
I just found the "Show at the corner of the screen" in Options. It seems that it can't work without disable "Try to show in full size". Please make it so that it can show the full size of the image disregard of where the mouse hover. In short, make the image to show in the fixed position where it can show the full size of the image.
Thanks for reading my request.
You must of got it from a bad site then. Some sites take good programs and wrap them inside wrappers with adware. Lots of older stufff you can't even find without using such sites.
I should have given you a good link, but i don't like putting links in post. Forum admin don't like it either. Their homepage is the best place.
