I now that no one probably knows this, (unless you got ahold of the beta, which I might try here in a bit) but will tabbar work with the new Windows as nicely as it does with Vista?

Windows 7 won't work… well at least not for the first few months, and they'll probably implement tabbed browsing just as they did in IExplorer after every other browser started doing it.
The tabs work as usual, but the image/video popups don't, nor do the folder content popups (they do work on the drop down menus on the tabs). The button bar doesn't work either (it works for a while but the buttons don't show up when you reopen the window)
QTTabbar please make this tabs work properly on win7.
Microsoft cannot implement it but you can do it man. do it !
regards Deniz
Hi everybody,
i got some good news for all windows 7 users.
Qttabbar latest beta release works on Windows 7.
How ?
Just install this nice piece of software and create the group with your favorite folders.
After starting your explorer right click on your menu bar and open your group - dragging your folder on the menu bar doesnt work but opening your group is working properly.
enjoy
mc
Well, sort of but not really, at least for me.
None of it works and it crashes explorer hard on Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
Hi again,
now i got also dragging folders on the menu bar working on Windows 7.
How ?
Just activate "XP compatible BS Key" in the options -> misc .
thats it … :)
enjoy

Good, there may be hope yet. Maybe by the time Window 7 hits (I think Q1 2011) Quizo will be back with a QT Tabbar update.
please update for Windows7, please
pls someone let Microsoft know Windows 7 Explorer is still SHIT!!!!!!
WinXP Qttabbar forever.. or at least until MS gets some better fucking UI/UX designers… that or someone like Quizzo comes along again to patch up the shit functionality MS seem so imcompotent to sort out.
i wish quizo will support all the next windows for a long time. can't live without qttbar !!!
Can't live without, either. Unfortunatelly QTTabBar doesn't work with Windows 7 Build 7000:
When you open Explorer an activate the QTTabBar it works. But when you close explorer und open it again, it only shows empty tabs.
Any previews don't work.
Having the lines in detailed view in different colors doesn't work.
'Sub folder tip' doesn't work, either.
can't open new tab with middle click,
nor shift+enter
Well Win7 Explorer smells like dogshit… Thanks Microsuckware!
You damn bitch azz fucked up gay…talk like a bitch about microsoft.
YOU use it every day so shut up and use it…..damn man
Oh no! I shouldn't have wasted my space downloading that crappy new os!
windows 7 is greatest of all OSes…
unfortunately Quizo is too lazy.
Some of you name-calling guys sound really childish. Windows 7 Beta is great, and i'm sure Quizo will iron out the compatability bugs soon.
I thought I woudl miss QTTabBar, but the new taskbar in Windows 7 is satisfying me for now.
Guys please post in the tech net forums and demand tabs for Windows Explorer I don't understand how Microsoft can be so blind…
…maybe cus Microshit are fucking retarded? and have noob designers that don't seem to have a fucking clue about user experience or workflow for that matter.
"Windows 7 Beta is great, and i'm sure Quizo will iron out the compatability bugs soon."
and you sound like a noob… Quizo would have to do more than just compatibility bugs.. he needs to completely replace Winshite explorer, it seems like MS imcompetant in actually improving it.. but doing a wonderful job at turning it into an even more useless piece of shit.
"I thought I woudl miss QTTabBar, but the new taskbar in Windows 7 is satisfying me for now."
LOL!!11!1!! … yup I should have read this first.. you are a certified noob!
I have to agree. Maybe Quizo would be better off just writing his own explorer replacement rather than wrestling with the native system component. Would be nice to have something like QT Tabbar on the flash drive. :)
Besides, who the hell want's to upgrade to another 32 bit system? We already have one and thanks to Quizo, it's life has been extended exponentially! :D
you should try xPlorer 2
it has tabbed interface and its Lite version is free
Well, I can see that everyone here likes to voice their freedom of choice. Regardless I will offer a set of tips to run it in Windows 7b with less sacrifice.
First off and most importantly, thank you Quizzo for exellent software that has improved my productivity for some time now.
Ok, now, the biggest problems I have with the issues it has in Windows 7b is the new (clone) tab hotkey (ctrl+n) doesn't work and it will neither stay on the same bar as the menu nor will the hide menu option work. In order to get around it I have set it to open a new tab when double clicking the background/bar (be sure to fill in the path text box so it knows what folder new tabs should open in) and clone when double clicking the the tab will clone it.
The new/clone tab hotkey is the feature I used out of all of the features it has 99.9% of the time. So this is a good middle ground for now.
Also if anyone is up for the challenge go download Reflector, decompile (export) it, fix it and send the fixes to Quizzo. I tried just compiling under Wndows 7 but as I thought it didn't make a difference.
I tried to decompile an export with reflector but I have some compilation error. Could you send me the sources, if you have them?
Then I don't know what to change since QTTabBar doesn't work at all on Windows 7 RTM (64 bits). Is QTTabBar compatible with 64 bits OS?
I know this thread is pretty old, but thought I would comment anyways.
For those that hope or think MS will implement tabbed browsing in Windows Explorer for Windows 7, let me just tell you that I'm on the Windows 7 TAP (Technology Adoption Program) and had our TAM (Technology Account Manager) setup a call between our company and one of the Windows Shell PMs at MS. I specifically asked him if they would implement tabbed browsing in anything else other than IE (Windows Explorer, Command Prompt, Notepad, etc.) and he told me they would not since it was too difficult. Imagine that…
Thank you for this information. Too difficult? They can't be serious O_o
How is this too difficult? Microsoft has ~89000 employees in 2008 (according to wikipedia) and able to implement tab in internet explorer.
This is a shame, Microsoft should have recognized tabbed trend.
Windows 7 would be much better if only Microsoft provided an option for tabbed browsing in window explorer, command prompt, notepad, and window messenger.
Hello,
I must congratulate you guys for this splendid gadget that make my life a lot easyear on Windows XP. Explorer tabs are absolutely great.
However, i would love if you could make it work on Windows 7 too. I am using it on a laptop and altough it's in beta version and for testing purposes, i am missing the explorer tabs brought by qttabbar.
It would be great if you could develop a version or an update for Windows 7, please.
Anyone tested QTTabbar with windows 7 RC?
I have Win7 RC1 and installed Qtabbar.
It works, but i dont liked it, cus i cant open files in new tabs with just a click with ma wheel.
So i uninstalled it. But now, i have a bug in my browser!
The Menubar (Data, edit, view and so on) wont hide anymore, whatever i do!
It always looks like this: http://www.abload.de/img/aufzeichnen2ltv.png
Run a restore point from the nearest date before the installation of QTTabBar. And do this as soon as possible, without making further changes to your Windows 7 system.
Good luck!
Did you try to uncheck "Folder Options" -> "Always show menu"?
There seems to be a bug on Vista explorer.
I got some reports that deleting a registry value solves this problem.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\ShellBrowser]
"ITBar7Layout"
The value will be recreated.
( If you edit registry keys and values, please do it at your own risk. )
Window 7 RC1:
The bar does not work correctly. The names of the Tabs and the images are not rendered properly. Control+T for new tab crashes the Explorer.
I will wait for an update.
Hi same pb for me on Win7 RC.
Can't wait for an update…. it is really a must-have addon ! :)
Thanks for your work.
Working fine on my 7 RC1, at least for all the functions I use. Remember to enable the menu bar. Then right click and tick QTTabBar. Thanks very much, could not have gone to 7 without it. Ph…I am 64bit btw.
Yep, it doesn't work in 7. I love this-even though I have only been using it for the last month or so. I just upgraded to 7 and its really buggy.
the tab is blank and it is not useable. Middle mouse doesn't do anything -explorer may have another function for it?-
clicking "Clone this" creates a problem -qttab bar failed to open- and then a countdown
PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!
I love this program…
please…
please
Yes I was surprised when someone said it works on Win7, for me all the tabs are blank. I got back to XP because of this, really can't live without this little useful addon :D
I also have blank tabs, but… If you disable the toolbar and then enable it again it will start working correctly.
Hello all,
I also have blank tabs, but… If you disable the toolbar and then enable it again it will start working correctly.
However, if you open a new window it will go back to blank tab. Furthermore, it will not capture new explorer processes and open them as new tabs. So every time to open a folder from say a link on your desktop it will open up a new window with a blank tab. I'm using Windows 7 RC Build 7100 and I tried the stable version of QTTabBar and Betas 3 and 5. I've been suffering with the win 7 task bar:(
Jonathan
I have been using Windows 7 and QTTabBar 1.2.3 Beta5 and I would like to post status:
When you start new explorer, QTTabBar does not work. You have to disable and enable in toolbars. Then it works.
Middle mouse clieck does not open new tab.
QTTabBar does not capture new Explorer processes.
It may capture window as a new tab when opened outside. (Sometimes does capture)
QTTabBar does not restore tabs (Expected since it does not start with new Explorer)
XP compatible BS key does not work (I expect this option to navigate to parent folder when Backspace is pressed)
I would be glad if these functions will work as expected.
I am aware that Windows 7 is beta, not everyone has it and QTTabBar is free.
Thanks in advance.
please update for Windows 7!!!
Congratulations Quizo.

"My idea was not to have tabbed explore in Windows7 and to have full row selection in details view to make it more difficult for the user. That way people would use my tiles idea so they can only see a few files at a time"
"I'm a jerk, and Windows 7 was my idea"
Jerk!
Quizzo, when you have the time, please make it work in Windows 7.
Does anyone maintain this software? Hello?
When you exit explorer then reopen it, no buttons are displayed on a completely grey toolbar.
If I right-click it, I get only options from windows
First of all, is that a bug or a feature? Did I reset some option somewhere wrongly?
The only way I found was to disable, then reenable the buttons bar. This obviates this program's usefulness, since I'm not going to do that every time I open am explorer window.
It's hard to believe that this happens to everybody, or it would be the first thing fixed.
Finally, there isn't any chance in hell that you (whoever you are) could email me the answer at moc.liamtoh|yrellagenakeyaf#moc.liamtoh|yrellagenakeyaf, is there?

Did anyone try QTTabbar 1.3.0.1 on Windows 7?
QTTabbar is found on japanese version of Quizo's site: http://qttabbar-ja.wikidot.com/
Unfortunately I'm not using Windows 7, but is strange to see this version has not been updated in English, anyway in these forums a parter made an English language pack for it.
Perhaps this version works with Windows 7 (I hope).
Firefox how file explorer:

Here's a great program that you can try :
http://www.handyfolders.com/
It's very cheap and it does a wonderful job.
Sylvia
Handy Folders is a ripoff of the freeware Folderview http://www.folderview.com/
Great program, Sartre, although I prefer Handy Folders as it doesn't show icons of every single subfolder included in the folder you choose. You can organize the shortcuts by categories with a drop-down menu.
Sylvia
Actually you're right, Sartre, FolderView is a great program. I managed to make it work the way I like it and it's really great! Thanks for the tip :)
Must say I prefer Direct Folders from www.CodeSector.com
Any news here?
I really miss QTTabs for 7.
Especially the tiny function, to filter the actual view on files and folders!!
Explorer++ is just great. It is free and open-source:
http://www.explorerplusplus.com/
It works on XP and Windows 7 both 32 and 64bits.
Problem solved!
