Just install the latest release of Qttabbar on Windows 7.
Activate also the standard buttons and go to options.
Activate in misc. the point "XP compatible BS Key".
Dont close your explorer keep it open the hole session.

Hi there, thanks for this wonderful program. I'm crazy about how it captures threads to a single instance to have all your explorer windows together.

Question: is it possible to have each tab as a separate thread, so it doesn't restart a search when you tab out and reselect a search result tab? You can only maintain search results when the explorer window is separate :(.

Maybe its possible?

If anyone has QTTabBar alternatives for windows 7 i would really appreciate it if you would post it here. Every one loves QTTabBar and it works perfectly but till they make it for windows 7 or make a fix, i would like to use a alternative tab bar thats sort of like QTTabBar. Anyone that has something like QTTabBar please post it here thanks, it doesnt have to have the same features just a tab bar.

Explorer window opens when ctrl+mouseleft is pressed in my computer

Whenever i press ctrl + left mouse button in an empty space in mycomputer it opens a new explorer window (Folder which opens is Start Menu folder), and sometimes when i try to paste some things using keyboard Ctrl+V , occasionaly it opens the same window. I dont know why it happens. I noticed this after i installed Fences's latest version on my computer. If i uninstall qttab bar, qt address bar and Fences from my computer problem gets solved.

Additionally i tried to install fences after removing em all and no problems. but as soon as i install qttabbar the problem comes back

anybody got a solution ?

I have latest .NET SDK installed.

I ran QTTabBar.exe then logged off and logged on to the system. But the View toolbars menu does not show QT TabBar.

New tabs open as a separate window (not merged with existing open window)

I just reformatted my HD and installed the latest version of QTTabBar.

In my earlier installation, if I had an explorer window open and then opened a new explorer window, it would open as a new tab in the existing window. Now what happens is that if I have an explorer window open and then open a new explorer window, it opens as a new window. I have to manually merge the open explorer windows by right clicking on the QtTabBar window and selecting "Merge tabs of other windows".

How do I get the new explorer window to open as a new tab in the existing explorer window by default?

Any help appreciated.

Is there another way to open another tab rather than right-clicking on the tab and scrolling down? For an example in firefox, you can hit "Ctrl+T" to open another tab. Is there a quick way to do this for QTTabBar? Can i customize the functionality so that i can hit Ctrl+T to open another tab in windows explorer?

hi!

after playing around a little time - here's an idea to have qt working under windows 7. i have build 7100 with qt 1.2.2.1 running.
what i do is: open explorer, and first of all uncheck qttabbar at the menu bar and enable it again.
it works only in that window, so every new explorer window goes like that, but which is not essentially necessary with qt :-)
i wonder why nobody seems to have figured this out.
well:

- qt does not save this setting and the arrangement and
- folder preview is not available (which was great)

but if any of the geeks could make qt disable/enable itself each time explorer starts it could be an approach to fix it in win 7 and there would be more time to waste on other 7-related shit (which remains sufficiently).
can you imagine longing for vista again, haha!? i do…because there's no suitable alternative to qt.
any experiences?

Hi, I think this is really a great suggestion!

Instead of the contents shown when you hover on the arrow down button of a folder, can you please add another feature like copy, paste, and send, etc like when you right-click on a file so we don't have to right-click to see the tips.

Hovering should replace right-clicking. This is faster and more efficient.

it'll be nice to use that arrow down on other files and not only the folders. it'll be a good new feature.

So the hover arrow button on folders should include open (instead of double-clicking), cut, copy, paste, send to, delete, rename and the contents of the folder can still be shown in a click-able button like an arrow to show folder contents.

And for files: run, cut, copy, play (for media files), view (for pictures), delete, rename, send to, and if possible the file's properties is also shown when you click on it on something like "properties" and it drops down.

Hope this suggestion included on the next release and I can't wait!

The core features I think are..

- It's an explorer addon
- Tabs and saved tab groups with mousewheel navigation
- Ability to see all subfolders and files without going inside the volume/folder (one click auto expanding and closing drilldown menus)
- Capturing all new window open requests into one window as tabs e.g. control panel, networking folder to prevent cluttering the windows taskbar and to speed navigation.
- Filter current view with text input.

After checking Quizo's website and forum for several months it seems that the English beta of QTTabBar as well as a Win7 compatible version may not be released. Does anybody recommend any viable alternatives (paid or freeware, explorer add-ons or replacements) that are being actively developed?

i think qttabbar is GREAT! i've been using it a while now. plain windows explorer SUCKS. i'd rather use explorer + qttabbar than a explorer replacement program.

btw, i was using qttabbar on 32 bit vista and was worried it wouldn't work with 64 bit vista, but so far with 64 bit i haven't noticed any problems.

all i use on the qt standard buttons is the search box… and is there a possible way to make it stay at the right at all times even when im resizing the window?? i dont like it how it is fixed all the time.

i already have installed .NETframework v2, v2.0, v3.5, v3.5sp1. why the hell I cant install QTTab. I have also try install the old version of QTTabs but still cant have it in my own PC. damn this error always appear. application error (0x000007b) click to terminate!.

I already installed QTTab in another PC and it works good and fine, but not in my own PC sh!!!TT.

I am only using the QTtabBar and I found a nice skin and set up a group to load with explorer all works great on x64 vista.

So, the thing is the names on my tabs in the group are all underlined and it just spoils the look of the tabs.

Is there a way, that I'm missing, to remove the underlined tab titles in a group that anyone knows of ?

This toolbar plug-in saves me so much time I might even consider another hobby of some sort :D

Problem with explorer shortcut using "/root" parameter

When clicking on a shortcut to a folder, which uses the "/root" parameter (which means that the explorer tree will have this folder as root and not the "Desktop" entry - this is used by the default shortcut to "My Documents"), there is a problem when opening another folder, that's not within this partial tree (e.g. a shortcut to a drive). (the capture new instances option has to be set for this to happen). The explorer window then goes into endless loop popping up error messages (which are unreadable, because they close on their own immediately). Eventually explorer dies and restarts (including the taskbar).

Where to download plugins

I have accidentally deleted my plugins during a major cleanup. Although one is on the site still, the other isn't. It is select info to statusbar. Also, the select empty button and select by extension doesn't exist (both of which I wanted to try). It seems that all the are replaced by the selection tool pack in New Plugins which doesn't work in the latest stable version. I'm wary about installing the beta version, which can be dangerous (especially this type of software). Is there another place to download them for the current stable release? If not, can someone upload them and send me the link? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having a problem with the QTTab bar (great addon btw) - I've tried installing and uninstalling both the stable and beta releases but haven't been able to solve this problem.

The problem started when I installed IE8, then selected QTTAb bar by mistake to be displayed in IE8 - I think this caused it to crash. Then, restarting my computer / uninstalling QTTab bar doesn't seem to help. I have 2 questions:

1. How do I get it to work again!? :-) - Do I have to delete some registry entries?

2. How do I backup my settings, especially the Group settings so that I can restore them when things like this happen?

For some reason, with version 1.3, when I open an explorer window, and then open another, first the 2º windows opens sepparately but instantly joins to the first one as a tab…

The thing I've noticed then was that when the windows joins to the previous one, a sound like a "ting" plays, as if something failed (the same sound when someone try to extract the pendrive and windows tells that it's still in use)…

My current system is Windows Vista SP2 with QTTabbar 1.3.01 (the last version in japanese)…

How can I prevent that sound from playing and if it's possible to avoid the 2º window to open as a sepparate process ??… I mean, as in XP, the tabs openes at the first one opened, but in vista opens in another window and then join to the first one…

Excellent program.

I have a problem(because i don't know)

I downloaded all plugins zip files and extracted them to a single directory. In the options, i selected all the plugin dlls and they were loaded.
Now is the question. I don't see the functionality of these plugins anywhere. How do i activate them?

I even restarted my system. I could see all toolbars checked and visible. It's only these additional plugins (available from this site itself) are not activated/functional.

Please let me know how to activate these plugins.

OK. After using QTTABAR for a little while, ( and it's a great program!), I wanted some more functions. I tried writing a couple, and then I another program. This programm works perfectly with QTTABBAR, and turns the whole thing into a single "Super-Explorer".

I downloaded the png that is in http://qttabbar.wdfiles.com/local--files/uploadable:skins/quizo_btn_Default.png

Then I edited it with paint (windows vista) to bring it to my liking. I have not changed either the size (432x40) or format (PNG).

When I post the new bar qtt not load the image correctly.

The original quizo_btn_Default.png loads ok,
simply making a copy/paste with the file quizo_btn_Default.png the new copy_of_quizo_btn_Default.png make the error. Thanks

Toolbars in Windows Explorer but NOT in IE

I am having an issue that I can't find a solution to.

Previously I had QT Tab bar and Breadcrumbs working just fine in Windows Explorer. I had to reinstall it. Now, the only way I can have it in Windows Explorer is if I have it enabled in IE. I DO NOT want the toolbars in IE, just in Windows Explorer. What am I missing? How can I get it back to the way it was?

If I disable it in IE, it is greyed out in Windows Explorer.

Any ideas?

I have tried to open Program Files folder by clicking the arrow from the C: drive, and most but not all folders and files show up in C:, but the one I really would like to show is Program Files folder, and it acts the same in QT Tabbar and QT Address bar. I have checked the permissions, don't see anyhting out of the ordinary, any reason behind this behavior in the C: folder location that I'm not aware of? For the files and folders that don't show, the Hidden attribute is greyed out, when either checked or not, the option is greyed out but visable. Do I need to uncheck a permission somewhere?

I installed the latest version on a Windows XP OS. The installation seems to have gone smoothly. However, there is a problem. I cannot enable the standard buttons or the address bar from the Windows Explorer. When I right click on any of those, and actually most of the other toolbars in the right click menu, nothing happens — the only exceptions to this are Standard Buttons, Address Bar and Links. On the other hand, I can right click and enable the QT Tab Bar toolbars on Internet Explorer.

To get to the bottom of this, I ran the sysinternals program to figure out the running processes, and this is what I saw in the Internet Explorer tab:

…so I looked for these QT registry entries in the tab for Explorer, but couldn't find them. Maybe that's the problem? I dunno….

Where is the locked tab feature for Startup Group

I have installed v1.2.3 beta 5 and learned that the feature is missing on this version. Also, the Lock button is also missing on the toolbar. Is there a reason for removing the features?
