I got the folders opening in the same window, following the guidelines of some people found via Google - most of which were registry tweaks. I reinstalled QTTabBar, and now it works fine. I'll be sure to download it again when there's an option to open double-clicked folders in the same tab.

The Folder Options was a good idea, but that didn't work either - it was already checked.
