Error with directories that I don't have read permission! Because it opens subdirectories on mous-eover, and windows will show an error message stating that I don't have permission when it does this. Can you add a check for read permission, or change to mouse-click instead of mouse-over.

On the Address Bar, clicking the small arrows opens a drop down list of the folders. It seems that QTAddressBar does not properly sort the list in any obvious manner if the folder contains different items other than folders (example My Computer). The drop down menu items are not sorted alphabetically nor by group.

How is the list sorted? Maybe an option to fix it to alphabetize or group (folders, drives, etc. ) instead of what seems to be random listing.

1. Also, on right click, the option to open a new tab is not listed. Much guess work is needed to get a new tab opened. I guessed ctrl+n is that correct? Or is there a more proper way to create tabs?

2. The close button on tabs overlaps with the tab title if it is long enough. Example, the tab label My Computer overlaps with the [X] button. Maybe concatenate the text when the close button is present? Like on mouseover or with alt key down depending on user choice in the options it would appear like:

My Com… [X]

instead of overlapping with one another.

3. The backspace button in explorer by default behavior goes back to the previous folder. With QTTabBar installed, the backspace button now goes straight to home i.e. My Computer. The user of course expects it to go to the previous folder since it is the default behavior. Maybe a different hotkey should be assigned to go to the folder home instead of backspace.

I installed the latest version on a Windows XP OS. The installation seems to have gone smoothly. However, there is a problem. I cannot enable the standard buttons or the address bar from the Windows Explorer. When I right click on any of those, and actually most of the other toolbars in the right click menu, nothing happens — the only exceptions to this are Standard Buttons and Address Bar. On the other hand, I can right click and enable the QT Tab Bar toolbars on Internet Explorer.

To get to the bottom of this, I ran the sysinternals program to figure out the running processes, and this is what I saw in the Internet Explorer tab:

…so I looked for these QT registry entries in the tab for Explorer, but couldn't find them. Maybe that's the problem? I dunno….

This feature must have saved me hours as no need to place the mouse accurately on the Back button. However this feature is not working under windows 7 anymore.

There is a small bug in connection with 7-Zip in the context menu (vers 1.2.2.1)

When I choose several zip files, open the context menue with the special key on the keyboard and then press the letter for "unzip here" QTTabBar won't unzip but open the several zip files as new tabs.
If I do exactly the same with the mouse, i.e. press the "unzip here" comand in the context menue with the left mouse button, everything works fine.

If I choose only one zip file, "unzip here" works correctly with both approaches, via keyboard or mouse.

I assume that the list is going out and for whatever reason touching these UNC paths causing the delay. Once this initial delay has been overcome, then the Groups list works normally. Any way to not have the Groups list go out and touch the UNC paths and thereby avoid this extremely painful delay going forward?

Folder options I have checked (besides others): "Use own process for every folder", "reload previous folders on system log on".
Qttabbar options:
On "General" tab all selected, except "Close all tabs when group opened".
On "Tab" tab all options are selected, except close button should be shown always
On "Windows" tab: "Capture new Explorer processes", "Show folder tree when new process captured"
On "Appearance" tab nothing selected
Plugins are "FolderTreeButton" and "ChangeFolderViewMode"
On "Misc" tab I have selected: "Grid lines for details view", "Alternative row color in details view" and others I guess are not important here.
The call trace of the crash is:

I found that after every reboot the search-Field in the QTTabBar StandardButtons narrows a little bit.
Right now I can just see a millimeter of the text area.

Older Versions worked well.
I upgraded because I could not add groups which works well in this version.

I'm working with Images which are stored in several numbered-named folders.

A strange bug appeared where in one folder all filenames disappear when it is in Thumbnail or Filmstrip-viewmode (using Win XP). In all other view modes, filenames are visible.

If I rename a file, the textbox for renaming appears and overlaps the thumbs in the row beneath the file. After renaming, the filename is hidden again. The space between two rows of files in this folder is smaller than in other folders where this bug didn't occur.

Refresh does not help. The strange thing: This is related to the folders name! If I delete the folder and create a new one, the problem persists if I use the same name for the folder.

The fact is when I open explorer now, the tab name is empty, when I open a folder then it just opens and the tab name stays empty.
If I want to close it, I have to click multiple times, it's like each folder was opened in a new tab, but that's not visible…

I'm using Vista Home Premium 6.0.6001

I hope you get this solved quickly, if not I'll be awaiting an update anyhow as this is probably the best thing I ever installed on vista =)

I think I found a multi-monitor support bug (on XP, SP3). I have 3 monitors setup with the following left-to-right physical configuration:
(Monitor 2) (Monitor 1) (Monitor 3)
This allows me to keep the taskbar and popped-up dialog boxes in the center monitor of the configuration.

If I start QTTabBar's Desktop toolbar from Monitor 2, it opens at the X-Y position, but on Monitor 1.
If I start QTTabBar's Desktop toolbar from Monitor 1, it opens at the X-Y position, but on Monitor 3.
If I start QTTabBar's Desktop toolbar from Monitor 3, it opens on monitor 3, but only the vertical position correct (horizontally the menu opens as far right as possible).

The problem is fixed and the toolbar opens at the right location if I change the configuration to (Monitor 1) (Monitor 2) (Monitor 3).

One, the back/forward buttons do not recognize the hierarchy like the 'up' button. I thought that was the intent of it, unless I am mistaken.

Two, the biggie. Every time I double click on a folder to open it, in and outside of the Folders pane, it opens in a new tab. I did not want that at all. It looks like it activates explorer.exe again everytime. When that happens another tab is generated instead of a new window. I asked a few people and checked the registry keys for that and all that checked out but still the undesired effect occurs. Folder Options is set to browse folders in same window as well. It all worked before but one day it stopped. I cant figure out why.

Any help with this would be super. I really like the functionality this program gives to my folders, saves me a ton of time and it looks cool the way I have my system set up. Thank you!

I like this software, I want to use it for the "up" and "delete" buttons mainly.
I tried the stable version, and beta too, but to no avail. Let me explain:
After installing and restarting, I was able to open qt tabbar and make my settings and everything was fine, except that NONE of the buttons was working. When I closed the window (or opened a new one), all the buttons were gone. They appeared as soon as I made a change in button settings and pressed OK. Please help me with this problem, I am desperate :(
I am on freshly installed Vista 64bit with SP1.

I use Windows XP, QTTabBar v1.2.2.1, and my problem is I can't create file shortcuts:
If I copy a file and then right click -> Paste Shortcut, then it pastes a copy of the file, and not a shortcut to the file.
If I drag and drop while pressing the ALT button, it should create a shortcut to the file, bit instead it renames the file to "Copy of <filename>".

I recently installed your QTTabBar into Windows XP2 and I've come across an extremely annoying bug. Every time that I close a folder, my system makes a sound, the default ding sound. I have "Play sounds" unchecked in the QTTabBar options window and I've checked my systems sounds configuration and there is nothing set in there that would trigger a sound when closing a folder so aside from uninstalling QTTabBar, do you have any suggestions?

My home sound system is hooked up to my PC and the audio is always on and the ding is really distracting.
